Alter Ego bar interior Rooftop pool Alibi east terrace

Canopy by Hilton — Tempe, AZ

Hilton's first Canopy location in the Southwest opened in downtown Tempe, Arizona — a 14-story boutique property just steps from Arizona State University and the Mill Avenue entertainment district. The hotel needed a sound system as dynamic as the building itself, covering everything from a quiet lobby to a full-energy rooftop bar 14 stories up.

Level Three partnered with TM Sound to design and deploy a complete DAS Audio system spanning six distinct zones. The approach was the same one that worked at the West Palm Beach Canopy: map the acoustic needs of every space, select the right speaker for each environment, and hide the hardware so guests hear great sound without ever seeing a single driver.

The Spaces

1

Alter Ego Restaurant & Lobby

The lobby doubles as the hotel's main restaurant and bar — Alter Ego — with the adjacent Myrtle Corner lounge flowing right into it. Ten white DAS Ovi-12 loudspeakers were suspended 14 feet above the floor to provide even, warm coverage across the entire open-plan space without interfering with the interior design.

2

Alibi — 14th Floor Rooftop

Alibi is one of the highest rooftop bars in the Valley — 14 stories up with 180-degree panoramic views of downtown Tempe. Inside, six DAS Q-23-T speakers provide intimate coverage right up to the bar, backed by two Q-10 subwoofers hidden behind the columns. The outdoor patios and pool deck each have their own independent zones with weather-rated WR-8826 speakers and dedicated subwoofers.

3

Pool Deck & Private Dining

The rooftop pool features four Q-43-T speakers joined as pairs above the white cabanas on each side, pointing directly at the water. Below, the display kitchen's private dining space was fitted with its own Q-10 and Q-43-T setup matched to the room's décor. Every zone runs independently, so the pool can pump while dinner service stays conversational.
