The Scottsdale Resort & Spa

Sitting on 16 acres in the exclusive McCormick Ranch community, The Scottsdale Resort & Spa has been a landmark Arizona property since it opened in 1976 as the country's first conference resort. When Driftwood Capital acquired it in 2022, they committed $40 million to a full transformation — the largest renovation in the resort's 50-year history. Level Three was brought in to handle the audio, video, lighting design, and control system integration across the property's newly reimagined dining and entertainment spaces.

The 278-key hacienda-style resort, now a Curio Collection by Hilton and AAA Four-Diamond property, debuted four entirely new dining concepts as part of the renovation. Each venue has its own personality, its own acoustic profile, and its own lighting needs — from a speakeasy that whispers to a poolside grill that needs to carry across open desert air.

The Spaces

1

La Fogata Kitchen & Bar

The resort's signature restaurant serves modern Sonoran cuisine with views of McCormick Ranch Golf Club and Camelback Mountain. Level Three designed an audio and lighting package that complements the open, airy layout — warm ambient sound for breakfast through dinner service, with accent lighting that shifts from daylight to a more intimate evening atmosphere as the sun sets over the desert.

2

The Madam — Speakeasy

Guests receive a secret password at check-in to enter The Madam, a Prohibition-era-inspired speakeasy open Wednesday through Saturday until midnight. The space demanded a sound system that could fill an intimate room with rich, detailed music at conversational volume, paired with moody, low-level lighting designed to match the clandestine atmosphere. Every detail — from speaker concealment to warm amber fixtures — was tuned to make the room feel like a discovery.

3

Twisted Vines, Social Boardroom & Barnaby's

The poolside Twisted Vines Bar & Grill, the lounge-style Social Boardroom (with its pool table, shuffleboard, and golf simulator), and the wellness-focused Barnaby's Café + Wine Bar each received independent audio zones and dedicated lighting scenes. The control system ties all six venues together, allowing resort staff to manage every space from a single interface — or let scheduled presets run hands-free throughout the day.
